Hey there, fellow travelers! Join me as I recount our unforgettable girls getaway to Denver, a celebration of my dear friend’s 40th birthday. With no kids or spouses in tow, we set out to discover the Mile High City beyond its airport terminals and business trips.
Day 1: Touchdown in Denver
My journey began with a smooth landing at Denver Airport, but this time, it wasn’t just a layover. My bestie and I hopped on the train to Union Station, enjoying a comfy 29-minute ride. Hungry from the journey, we stumbled upon Acme Delicatessen for lunch. Let me tell you, their Gyros hit the spot! Lamb and tzatziki sauce never tasted so good.
We checked into the cozy Magnolia Hotel , conveniently located near everything. Live music at Harris Restaurant added a nice touch, although the food didn’t quite match the vibe. But hey, exploring downtown Denver was a blast, despite the construction and friendly encounters with the city’s homeless residents.
Day 2: Pampering and Laughter
We treated ourselves to some much-needed pampering at a nearby nail shop before hitting the Bell Theater for a hilarious show by Matt Rife. Located just a stone’s throw from our hotel, the Bell Theater captivated us with its intimate atmosphere and side-splitting comedy. Laughter truly is the best medicine!
After the show, we had dinner at Corinne, which was a truly happy delight, leaving our taste buds dancing with joy.
Day 3: Adventures Await
With a rental car in tow, we set off to Cold Springs, where Mother Nature decided to show off her windy side. Despite the blustery conditions, Garden of the Gods took the show, rejuvenating our souls with its breathtaking beauty. Majestic red rock formations towered above us as we marveled at the wonders of nature.
A quick jaunt to Manitou Springs for some souvenir shopping rounded out our day before we headed back to Denver for a culinary masterpiece at Jovaninas. Located in Lower Downtown Denver, Jovaninas brings a fresh, modern take on Italian cuisine, through a Colorado lens. With a dinner menu built for sharing, we indulged in fresh bread, homemade pasta, and a cozy ambiance that was made for a meal to remember.
Quick tips: Make sure to book your hotel early and check for parking fees. We used points for our stay but paid $59 per night for overnight parking. Also, be sure to make reservations for Jovaninas to secure your spot!
In Conclusion:
My Denver escapade was a whirlwind of laughter, exploration, and delicious eats. From downtown delights to outdoor wonders, the Mile High City exceeded all expectations. Next time, I’ve got my sights set on catching a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre!
